Sommelier Nadine Brown, originally from Jamaica and Puerto Rico, pursued a social work degree in the U.S. After working with children, she took a temporary job as a hostess at a French restaurant in D.C. Despite her initial plans to return to social work, she developed a passion for the hospitality industry and quickly advanced to become a manager. Nadine’s interest in wine began with reading, and she took courses to enhance her knowledge.

With 20 years of experience in the D.C. restaurant scene, Nadine has served as Wine Director and Sommelier at Charlie Palmer Steak for over 14 years. She and her husband were managing partners at Society Fair in Alexandria, Virginia, where she worked as General Manager and Sommelier. Nadine has been recognized with multiple awards, including two D.C. RAMMY’s Wine Program of the Year titles and the Rising Star title from Star Chef. She is actively involved in the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan D.C. and the non-profit organization, the Veraison Project. Nadine holds certifications from the Court of Master Sommelier and WSET. As a mother of two children, Estelle and Emerson, Nadine stays busy while also mentoring young professionals in the industry.
